When you travel on a city street, take a stroll in Leinwand Park, enter a city-owned building, set out your garbage, or stand under the shade of one of the city-maintained trees, you are benefiting from one of many services provided by the Elizabethtown Department of Public Services. These benefits are an important part of your daily life, and most of us take them for granted. The dedicated employees of Public Services take pride in providing these services to our citizens.

The Public Services Department provides services, including refuse collection (both residential and commercial); engineering and design services; building inspections; street and sidewalk construction and maintenance; facilities management (Town buildings and public housing maintenance) and construction; sustainability and environmental services; project management; fleet maintenance; administration of the tree protection ordinance; maintenance of the stormwater system; and seasonal leaf collection services.


Solid Waste Recycling, Computer Equipment, Television

and other Electronic Devices Recycling


It shall be unlawful for person’s to knowingly dispose in a landfill or incinerate discarded computer or televisions, as defined by G.S. 130A-309. The county Solid Waste Transfer Station Facility in Elizabethtown has been designated as the central collection point in Bladen County for the collection of discarded computer equipment, televisions and other electronic devices.


Bladen County Solid Waste maintains a specific collection bin for computer equipment, television and other electronic devices and has an agreement with Creative Recycling Systems of North Carolina in Morrisville for proper disposal of these items as required by G.S. 130A-309.10. There is no charge for the disposal of these items.
